Panel Debate
The Panel Debate will be centered around the post-election events in the Czech Republic and its impact on the relationship with the European Union. With insights from František Novotný, Zuzana Stuchlíková, Petr Kaniok, the discussion will address Europe’s defense capabilities, its relationship with NATO and the USA, and the role of the EU in supporting Ukraine. The debate will also touch on how Europe can strengthen its resilience, boost defense production, and ensure long-term stability within the Union.
Zuzana Stuchlíková
Zuzana Stuchlíková is Head of the “Green Europe” programme at an Institute for European Policy EUROPEUM, having started her work with the organisation in 2013. From 2017 to May 2020, she served as Head of the office in Brussels. Her experience includes both Czech and British public administration. She also participated in preparations for the Czech Presidency of the EU Council in 2022. Currently she is posting at the British Embassy in Prague.
Zuzana holds a bachelor’s degree in International Territorial Studies and media from Charles University in Prague, also a master’s degree in European studies from its’s Faculty of Social Sciences Her research and professional interests cover climate and decarbonisation policy, European institutional reform and Czech European political relations.
František Novotný
František Novotný graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University, first in Political Science and International Relations, and later in Security Studies. He currently works in the European Policy Coordination Division at the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, where he focuses on European foreign and security policy. Previously, he worked in the non-profit sector as Operations Manager of the Reconstruction of the State initiative and in the Humanitarian and Development Section of People in Need.
František has also led the Prague Student Summit and remains an active member of the Association for International Affairs (AMO). He regularly takes part in delegations to the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC).
prof. Pert Kaniok
Prof. Petr Kaniok is a professor and Head of the International Institute of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University in Brno.
His academic work focuses on European Integration, the institutions of the European Union, Euroscepticism and the role of National parliaments in the EU decision making process.
He has published extensively on topics such as the role national parliaments in EU decision-making and the Czech EU presidency. His work has been mentioned in well-known journals, for example European Politics and Society, Journal of Contemporary European Research and other prominent outlets focused on European affairs.
Zuzana Augustová
Zuzana Augustová is a long-time member of EYP Czech Republic. She served as the Head Organiser of the Regional Selection Conference in Hradec Králové in 2022 and later as a Board Member responsible for Human Resources in 2023. She studies Journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. Since August 2024, she has been working as a Project Coordinator at the Institute for European Policy EUROPEUM.
