Eco booklet

Dear reader,
this page is dedicated to one of the core values of our session and EYP CZ in general; the sustainable approach to our planet. We have created this page not only to inform you about the eco-friendly elements that are implemented into our session, but also to give you some ideas to incorporate into your day to day life that can help reduce your environmental footprint.

How we are lessening the environmental impact of the session

  • Reusable instead of single use – We provide reusable cups, that you will be able to rent for the deposit of 50 CZK and then either give them back or keep them.
  • Recycling possibilities – We make sure that recycling bins are available at every venue. The colour code for Czechia is; yellow-plastic, blue-paper, green-glass, black-other.
  • Digital era – All materials (e.g. Academic Preparation Kit, Resolution booklet, …) are in digital form to avoid paper waste.
  • Sustainable catering – Vegan food alternatives will be provided. We fully support a vegan diet because it produces five times fewer emissions than an omnivorous one.
  • Reducing food waste – We are aware that a third of the food produced is not consumed, which is why we place great emphasis on buying food based on the exact number of servings. Additionally, what is not used will be donated to the food banks.
  • A walkable session – The session venues are located within walking distance of one another, meaning that no private buses or other organised transport between venues is necessary.

How WE are going to encourage participants to help

  • Greener ways of travelling – We encourage participants to consider the environmental impact of travel. We recommend opting for lower-emission modes of transport – travelling by bus (e.g. Flixbus, the sponsor of this session) can produce up to 2x fewer CO₂ emissions than flying, while train travel can be around 5x more climate friendly than air travel.
  • Reuse, reuse, reuse! – We invite participants to bring their own cup and cutlery for
Eurovillage so there would be no need for single-use plastic ones
  • Sorting your waste – We recommend that participants learn how to recycle responsibly and correctly. For plastics, it is important not only to sort them but also to flatten or crush them before disposal. You also shouldn’t put any plastic or paper that is greasy or contains food into recycling bins.
  • Deep dive into climate topics – We were aiming to have at least one Committee linked to environmental topics, which offers our participants to get more into the problems of environmental changes.
