Information for Teachers
Motivation of Your Students
Conferences are not only about representing your school, work and knowledge. Their main objective is to foster new contacts and improve various skills. Each year, Delegates leave these conferences equipped with improved English language skills and a newfound confidence in reaching a wider audience.
Preparation for Committee Work
After being assigned to the committee, Delegates will receive an Academic preparation kit. Feel free to encourage them to read the Topic overview and discuss any questions with them. Every moment taken to prepare for the conference will ease the workload ahead of your students.
Communication during the conference
Your students will certainly gain a lot of new experiences and ideas. Just by listening to them, you will create a sense of enthusiasm and encourage them to persevere in their endeavours.
Appreciating the work of Your Students
Recognition and praise are some of the best rewards. Recognition of their achievements in the classroom or in the presence of fellow teachers will undoubtedly bring them great joy as well.
Dress code
Sometimes new participants underestimate the dress code of different parts of the conference, which can lead to discomfort. Engaging in discussion on this matter can effectively prevent the negative feelings that students experience.
IMPORTANT
To foster the principles of sustainability, we kindly request that all attendees come prepared with their own reusable bottles and mugs. We also kindly ask that you relay this message to your students. In the case that a participant will not be able to bring a cup, we will offer EYP CZ cups for a refundable deposit of 50 CZK.

WHAT TO DO IN PLZEŇ
For the best and most enhanced experience of Plzeň, we recommend downloading the mobile app for both iOS and Android that has many guides around the city. Following are some of the best sights to see:
The biggest and most famous tourist attraction is probably the old Pilsner Urquell brewery. Established in 1842, this golden heart of barley, hops and yeast, beats in the heart of the city and reminds you about the masterful art of this prolific beverage. Including a tasting of the local product, this tour is sadly an endeavour only for the 18 years of age participants and older, but it still bears a mention for being this significant of a landmark.
If you are up for some more active culture and understand Czech, Italian or German, but also simply for the music’s sake, we recommend the Nabucco opera showing in the Great Theatre of Josefa Kajetána Tyla on the 8th of November, on the evening before check-in. Josef Kajetán Tyl was a great revivalist of Czech culture in the 1800s, even writing the Czech national anthem and his theatre is therefore greatly deserving of your visit.
The multi-storey historical underground of the city, similar to the likes of Tábor and other old towns, used to serve as cellars, connected together as a large complex. During the World Wars, it even served as bunkers for the city-folk and provided an important channel for military communication. Thanks in part to Plzeň’s sandstone bedrock, and the ease one can mine in it, the so-called catacombs are very extensive and contain everything from your mediaeval “freezers” to a large water wheel. It can get a bit chilly underground, so do not forget your jumpers!
Plzeň’s old town centre’s most visual dominant, with the tallest church steeple in the Czech Republic, the gothic-style building on the main square provides the most wonderful views of the city for just 3 EUR for adults and 2 EUR for students. The cathedral is visited from far and wide for its beautiful “Pilsen Madonna,” in order to ask Madonna for help or to be healed from their afflictions.
The largest synagogue in the Czech Republic with an alleged capacity of up to 2500 people. It was not demolished during the nazi rule on our territory only because of its strategic significance. It was used to store stolen jewish property and later even to manufacture nazi uniforms. Nowadays, it serves as an important cultural hot spot in the city for its unique atmosphere, and effervescent acoustics entertaining both concerts and art exhibitions.
With more than two million showpieces about the history of Plzeň and its immediate surroundings on display, the WBRM is one of the biggest museums in the Czech Republic. It boasts a vast collection of artefacts from a fully-fledged municipal armoury, which has been started by the greatest king of bohemia Charles the IV., archaeological exhibition from the neolithic era, as well as mediaeval craftsmanship tools or applied arts.

Additional night in Plzeň
As the Czech Republic is a beautiful country, and Praha and Plzeň particularly so, it is completely understandable if you might want to arrive a day or two sooner, and or later. In that case, we recommend using Airbnb in Praha.
The hotels can get quite expensive and nothing beats your own apartment. Still if you would like to check in to a hotel, here are some of our top picks with quite favourable pricing:
Gallery Hotel SIS,
Residence Tabor,
a&o Praha Rhea.
As for Plzeň, the amount Airbnb offers is also vast, just a bit more limited due to the size of the city. Some hotels in Plzeň with acceptable prices to point out are:
Hotel Victoria,
Hotel Central,
Penzion U Salzmannů,
Pension City.
