About Ostrava
The city of Ostrava, with its rich industrial history, perfectly aligns with the industrial theme that we want to focus on. Ostrava, along with numerous other cities in Europe, underwent a remarkable transformation, transitioning from once being a mining city plagued by air pollution to becoming one of the greenest cities in the Czech Republic. Now, they are creatively repurposing old industrial areas, like Dolní Oblast Vitkovice, as vibrant venues for renowned cultural events, including festivals and more.
Motto
We want to focus on the topic of industrialisation and culture, which underlines our motto “Harmonising Culture and Industry towards prosperity“. The motto emphasises the balance between preserving cultural heritage and embracing industrial and technological advancements. It acknowledges the potential conflicts that arise when cultural zones are reduced or overshadowed by industrialisation and modernisation. At the same time, it also recognizes the positive outcomes of revitalising former industrial areas into cultural zones, which can help preserve history while fostering artistic expression, creativity, and community engagement.
Because RSC Olomouc has a stronger technical focus while RSC Plzeň, on the contrary, leans towards humanities, we want to try to bring these two topics together and emphasise the contrast and harmony between them.
