Panel Debate

The Panel Debate will explore Current issues facing the EU, with insights from three esteemed experts: František Novotný, Kateřina Zichová and Filip Křenek. The conversation will dive into important topics such as environmental policies and the Green Deal, the future direction of the EU, its relationships with other countries, and the outcome of its most recent elections. 

This is a great chance to learn about the EU’s approach to these big issues, including what steps might be taken to promote sustainability and how the EU’s actions could impact us all in the coming years. 

Zuzana Augustová

Moderator

Zuzana Augustová is a long-time member of EYP Czech Republic. In 2022, she was the Head Organiser of the Regional Selection Conference in Hradec Králové, and she held the role of a Member of the Board responsible for Human Resources in 2023. 

Zuzana studies journalism at the Faculty of Social Science at Charles University. Earlier this year, she joined the Institute for European Policy EUROPEUM as an intern, and since August 2024, she has worked there as a Project Coordinator. 

The Panelists

František Novotný

František Novotný graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, first in political science and international relations, and later in security studies. He now works in the European Policy Coordination Division of the Office of the Government, focusing on European foreign and security policy. Previously, he worked in the non-profit sector, as Operations Manager of the Reconstruction of the State team and in the Humanitarian and Development Section of People in Need. 


František was previously responsible for leading the Prague Student Summit and, to this day, remains an active member of the Association for International Affairs. He is also a regular member of delegations to the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC). 

Kateřina Zichová

Kateřina Zichová holds a master’s degree in European Studies from the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno. Since completing her studies, she has been working at Euractiv, covering EU affairs ranging from European Parliament plenary sessions and European Council summits to bilateral meetings of Czech Ministers in Europe and specific topics within individual EU policies.  


Kateřina focuses on European politics and issues related to the rule of law, as well as topics connected to European funds, particularly the current use of the EU’s Just Transition Fund in the Czech Republic. She occasionally comments on these topics in the media and moderates debates or roundtables dedicated to them.  

Filip Křenek

Filip Křenek has worked at the Institute for European Policy EUROPEUM since May 2024. He works in the Green Team as an analyst of the European economy, competition, competitiveness and climate. He also focuses on EU economic security in supply chains, sources of critical raw materials and foreign investment screening. He gained experience in European affairs during his time in Brussels, where he has worked since 2018 at the European Commission in the Directorates General for Competition, International Trade and Regional Development. 


In 2023, Filip completed a James S. Denton Fellowship under the think tank CEPA (Centre for European Policy Analysis) in Washington DC, focusing on developing security relations between the US and Central and Eastern European countries. He studied Economic Policy, Media Studies, and Journalism at Masaryk University and worked briefly as a reporter for Czech Television during his studies.
