Information for Teachers
Your role at the Conference
European Youth Parliament conferences are not only about academic knowledge and representation, they are also about personal development, intercultural dialogue and cooperation. As a teacher, your role is essential in supporting, motivating, and guiding your students before and during the Conference, ensuring they feel confident and comfortable throughout the session.
Motivation and support of your students
Your encouragement plays a key role in your students’ experience. Help them approach the Conference with enthusiasm, especially if it is their first EYP event. Being available for guidance and reassurance can make a significant difference in how they engage with the programme.
Eurovillage
Before the Conference begins, each delegation gets assigned a European country and prepares traditional food to share with other participants during the Eurovillage. This activity promotes cultural exchange and teamwork. While the preparation is primarily the responsibility of the Delegates, your supervision or assistance is highly appreciated. It is a great opportunity to support your students and explore European cultures together.
Communication before the Conference
All important information regarding the Conference will be communicated to you via email. Please make sure to check your inbox regularly and pass on relevant details to your students in a timely manner.
Preparation for Committee Work
Once Delegates are assigned to their committees, they will receive an Academic Preparation Kit. Encourage them to study the materials carefully, research their topics further, and ask questions if anything is unclear. A good preparation will help them actively contribute to discussions and feel more confident during committee sessions.
Communication during the Conference
Your presence during the Conference is highly valued. Students will gain new perspectives and experiences and will often want to reflect on them with you. Simply listening and showing interest can significantly boost their confidence and motivation.
Appreciating the work of your students
Recognition is a powerful motivator. Acknowledge your students’ efforts and achievements during and after the conference. Praising their work in class or sharing their success with colleagues can reinforce their confidence and encourage future engagement.
Dresscode
Delegates may sometimes underestimate the importance of appropriate clothing. Please discuss the dress code with your students in advance to avoid misunderstandings and ensure they feel comfortable and prepared for all parts of the session.
